Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American performer and actress. She began by releasing hilarious, intelligently composed music that tackled questions of racial identity and sexuality. Later, she broadened her fan base to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants and Koreans. Following her Jazz and classical training her interest in hip-hop grew when she was an teen. While in the college years, she remained focused on her studies, and then took up a degree in women's studies as well as journalism. While she was for a brief amount of time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. In 2012 her track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet and was later released on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. On the album, there were other viral hits including Queef (body-positive) and NYC Bitche$1. The second track linked into Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, published in 2015. This was a different idea. A musician and author was as her credentials, she set her sights on an actor for a third venture. As well as early shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land her first major role in a number of high-profile movies like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
